Principal's Update

May 5th, 2008

Quest for the Best.

Doug Loftus, Principal

Know them…Learn how they learn and Love them.

You DO Make a Difference!
Our focus is to become better writers and to enhance vocabulary across the curriculum.

  • Teachers and staff - We should be receiving our FCAT Write scores by this Thursday, May 8th.  Remember that last year's 8th graders scored 91% on the 2007 FCAT Writes. Let's hope we can achieve this same score this year.  I will let you know when I have the results from D.O.E.
  • This Wednesday, the East Learning Community will be conducting the new high school Principal Profile meeting at 5pm.  I encourage you to attend this meeting since we will be the primary feeder school for the new high school.  Dr. Edwards will solicit and discuss your ideas regarding this very important topic.
  • Our outstanding boys and girls track teams will take on Union Park M.S. this Wednesday at Union Park. Come out and show your support to our Eagle track and field teams.
  • I will be serving hotdogs on the grill this Friday as a token of my appreciation to you and to your dedication to our students.  Please come by during your lunch time and enjoy great company and great food at the office lounge.
  • There will be an art festival at Waterford Town Center this Saturday from 9am -3pm.  Please come out and support our students who will be displaying their art work this Saturday, Also, our outstanding band will be performing on Saturday.  It will be a fun time for all who attend. My own personal art work will be displayed (don't laugh :).  You might be looking at some of the students' masterpieces when you visit our tent.
  • Thank you Beth Gilleon for organizing the Sea World trip this past Friday.  It was a great experience for everybody and I hope we can continue the tradition in the following years.
  • Thank you teachers who attended the vertical articulation meeting at University High School.  There was positive feedback from the teachers who attended and some great teaching practices were introduced.  Let's put this plan into use for next year.  Please see any of the teachers who attended this meeting last week.
  • May will be a busy month!  Hang in there.

Don't wait. The time will never be just right.
